20 Things Your Financial Therapist Wants You To Know – PART ONE

Bari Tessler was practicing financial therapy before most of the rest of us had ever heard the term. A psychotherapist, Bari decided to go into the bookkeeping business, quickly saw the union of psychology and money, and in 2001 began calling her work financial therapy. I met her a few years later and have been a fan of her work ever since. Last fall Bari posted two articles listing 21 “Things your financial therapist wants you to know.” I thought her points were excellent and worth repeating. Here is my take on the first ten of them.

About Bari Tessler:

Bari Tessler is a financial therapist, author, and founder of The Art of Money (which is a methodology, a year-long money school, and a book!). She originally trained as a psychotherapist and received her masters degree in somatic psychology. Then, she ran a bookkeeping business for therapists, coaches, and artists and boy did she learn a lot! In 2001, she merged all her training and created a financial therapy methodology that weaves together personal, couple, and creativepreneur finances into one tapestry. In her group programs and private financial therapy, she has guided thousands of people to new, more loving, and refreshingly honest relationships with money. She is now on a mission to bring healing, un-shaming, and empowerment to their money relationships and all that it touches. Bari lives in Boulder, Colorado with her husband, son, and their many cats.
